It doesn't take Stanley very long to relize that the boys aren't just digging hole to improve character, they are digging holes because the warden is looking for something. But what could be burried in aa dried up lake? When Stanley tries to find out......

Flipped
Bryce: My mom didn't understand why it was so awful that "that cute little girl" had held my hand. She thought I should be friends with her! "You like soccer. Why don't you go kick the ball around?"  Because I don't want to be kicked around, that's why! And although I couldn't say it like that at the time, I still had enough sense at seven and a half to know that Julianna Baker was dangerous.
Julianna(Julie): What did a kiss feel like anyway? Somehow I knew it wouldn't be like that one Mom and Dad gave me at bedtime. The same species, maybe, but a radically different beast, like a wolf and a whippet.  Only science would put them under the same tree. Looking back, I like to think that it was partly scientific curiosity that made me chase after that kiss from Bryce Loski, but it was probably mostly those blue eyes.

Worse to HORRIBLE!!!!  When she meets Emily, things lighten up and she might make her first friend!!  But she has to hide all evidence that she is in high-school at age 11.
